We are looking for an intern to support the research and business development efforts of Datenna’s U.S. office. You will contribute to both internal and public-facing research projects that advance Datenna’s mission of providing data-driven insights on China’s corporate, academic, and innovation landscape. Additionally, you may be asked to assist in competitive intelligence research, market analysis, and business development efforts to support Datenna’s engagement with partners and clients.
This internship is ideal for individuals with a strong analytical mindset, interest in China’s economic and technological developments, and a desire to work at a software/data company focused on China.
How you’ll make a difference:
Conduct data-driven research on China’s corporate, academic, and innovation landscape. Topics of interest include China’s military-civil fusion ecosystem, national industry and innovation policies, and development of critical and dual-use technologies.
Produce relevant reports and/or case studies based on your research.
Support the planning and execution of Datenna’s presence at conferences and events.
Conduct competitive intelligence research.
What makes you a great candidate:
Undergraduate or graduate-level degree in politics, economics, technology, or other relevant areas with a China nexus.
Interest and past research experience on Chinese politics, economic policy, and/or technological development.
Chinese language proficiency is highly preferred.
Quantitative data analytic skills are a plus (Python, R, etc.)

Additional Information
· This position is part-time and is based in our Alexandria, VA office. Preference will be given to candidates who are open to an in-person or hybrid work arrangement.
