About Datenna
Datenna is the world’s leading provider of techno-economic intelligence on China. Our proprietary OSINT platform maps over 45 million Chinese companies, 70 million individuals, and 27,000+ research institutes — connecting the dots across corporate structures, academic networks, government funding, patents, and procurement activity. Trusted by EU and NATO governments, defense agencies, and intelligence communities worldwide, we turn fragmented open-source data into decision-ready insight on China’s defense, technology, and economic landscape.
The Role: As a Medior China OSINT Data Analyst, you will work at the core of Datenna’s research and data operations, transforming Chinese-language open-source information into structured intelligence that powers our platform.
Working closely with our Data Lead, you will collect, verify, and analyze data from corporate registries, procurement portals, patent databases, and academic sources to map China’s corporate and innovation ecosystem. Your work will directly support government and defense clients by identifying relationships between corporate, state, and military actors and translating those insights into structured intelligence outputs.
This role is ideal for someone with strong China OSINT experience who enjoys combining analytical research with data-driven product development.
Your Mission at Datenna:
Conduct OSINT research on China’s corporate, academic, and innovation landscape, identifying connections between corporate, state, and military actors.
Collect and structure data from Chinese-language sources including corporate registries, procurement portals, patent databases, and academic repositories.
Manage the data lifecycle from acquisition and verification through enrichment and integration into Datenna’s platform.
Contribute to entity classification, ownership mapping, risk labeling, and procurement intelligence used in the platform.
Collaborate with data engineers and product teams to translate analytical insights into structured datasets and platform features.
Support data quality assurance and help improve collection methods and automated data pipelines.
What makes you a Great Candidate:
Experience: 3–5 years of professional experience in China-focused OSINT research and analysis.
China expertise: Strong knowledge of China’s corporate ecosystem, industrial policy, and the intersection between state, military, and commercial actors.
Chinese language proficiency: Reading proficiency in Chinese (minimum HSK5) with the ability to independently source, interrogate, and extract structured data from Chinese-language materials is essential; this is a core daily requirement of the role.
Research skills: Strong analytical and pattern-recognition abilities to identify relationships across complex entity networks.
Technical familiarity: Experience working with structured datasets and basic familiarity with tools such as Python, R, SQL, or Excel.
Product contribution: Demonstrable experience contributing to data-driven product development — whether through structured dataset creation, analytical input into software features, or validation of intelligence platform outputs.
Education: A postgraduate qualification in Chinese Studies, International Relations, Security Studies, or a related field is preferred.
Please note that applicants may be subject to a screening process.
